In a grim turn of events, the Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the killing of two notorious cultists affiliated with a gang responsible for the brutal murder of five individuals in the Odiemerenyi community of Ahoada-East.

The culprits, led by the infamous cult kingpin, Gift Okpara, widely known as 2Baba, allegedly carried out the heinous act in the early hours of Sunday.

According to SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the command’s spokesperson, the slain cultists met their fate during a fierce gun battle with law enforcement operatives.

The Ahoada Police Station received a distress call reporting the presence of suspected cultists loyal to 2Baba, who had invaded Odiemerenyi in search of police informants.

Promptly responding to the distress call, the police division mobilized with tactical units to the scene.

Tragically, the hoodlums had already claimed the lives of five community members before the police arrived.

Upon sighting the operatives, the criminals opened fire, triggering a gunfight that resulted in the death of two cultists.

Commissioner of Police Tunji Disu has ordered the Ahoada Police Division and other tactical units to intensify efforts to apprehend the fleeing 2Baba and his gang members.

The residents of Ahoada East communities are assured that adequate security measures are in place to counter any potential security challenges.

It’s worth noting that Governor Siminalayi Fubara had placed a bounty of N101 million on the head of 2Baba, who is implicated in several killings in the state.

The notorious cult gang leader is also wanted for the murder of the late Divisional Police Officer of Ahoada-East Local Government Area, SP Bako Angbashim.

In a disturbing twist, 2Baba has reportedly vowed to continue his violent spree against the residents of Ahoada-East communities until his sponsors and sympathizers, currently detained by the police, are released.

The Commissioner of Police expressed condolences to the families of those who fell victim to the recent attack, further highlighting the urgent need to curb the activities of such criminal elements in the region.
