The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has presented a Certificate of Return to the newly re-elected Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma.
The certificate was presented to Uzodinma on Friday in Owerri, Imo State, by INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner in the State.
Recall that INEC had declared Uzodinma the winner of Saturday’s off-cycle governorship election in the State after polling the highest votes.
The election was keenly contested between Uzodimma, Samuel Anyanwu of the Peoples Democratic Party and Athan Achonu of the Labour Party.
Uzodimma defeated his opponents in all Local Government Areas of the State with 540,308 votes, while Anyanwu and Achonu polled 71,503 and 64,081 votes respectively.
