The Southern Kaduna Community Development Associations ,CDAs, forum, says it has concluded plans to host the first edition of the Southern Kaduna Festival ,SKFEST, for the socio-cultural and economic development of the region.

The festival was organised by the CDAs forum, in collaboration with Southern Kaduna Leadership Council and the Southern Kaduna People’s Union ,SOKAPU.

Farguson Bobai, Chairman, Central Planning Committee, who made this known at a press briefing on Tuesday said the festival would hold from Dec. 28 to Dec. 30 in Kafanchan.

Bobai said the theme of the festival is “Experience Unity, Celebrate Culture”.

He said the festival would promote the rich cultural heritage, arts, sports, entertainment, and tourism industries because of the value they have on the future generations.

Bobai said, “We are aware of the extinction of cultures due to continuous promotions on foreign cultural ideologies and the misconceived perception of globalization among the youths.”

He said that the major participants were the 57 community development associations ,CDA’s, Non-Governmental Organizations, youth groups, associations, and other relevant stakeholders in the cultural sector. The festival is to enable the CDA’s to participate effectively and display their peculiar cultural endowment.

“The festival is an avenue for each Community Development Association in the region to participate effectively and display their peculiar cultural endowment.

“This is to preserve, promote the abundance of each CDA’s cultural industry to showcase not only the opportunities in them, but also, to explore the wealth of job opportunities inherent in the cultural sector, especially for our teeming youths.”

The chairman said that the festival would be on a rotational basis and would bring more economic fortune to the state.

“The main events will be a beauty pageant, traditional wrestling, fashion show, archery, marathon race, football tournament, free medical outreach, art and crafts exhibitions, among others,” he added.
