Tanya Chutkan, a US district court judge, has officially stayed all deadlines in Donald Trump’s federal election interference case pending the outcome of his presidential immunity appeal.

Independent news, reports that, The case’s deadlines are not being vacated, so the trial is still set for March 4, 2024. Mr. Trump is accused of attempting to illegally overturn his defeat in the 2020 presidential election.
The US Supreme Court has agreed to hear the immunity case on an expedited basis, as requested by special counsel Jack Smith.
While that is being argued, an appeals court ruling earlier on Wednesday found that Mr Trump cannot claim presidential immunity in the defamation lawsuit brought against him by writer E Jean Carroll, who has accused him of rape, dealing the former president a new legal setback.
The decision upholds a federal judge’s decision to reject the immunity defense, concluding that Mr Trump waited too long to raise it.
These developments are present after Mr Trump’s civil fraud trial was wrapped up and while his ex-lawyer Rudy Giuliani’s defamation trial is underway in Washington, DC. Mr Giuliani is expected to take the stand on Thursday.
