The Minister of State for Federal Capital Territory ,FCT, Mariya Mahmoud, has expressed satisfaction over the level of preparedness to receive the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, for the Renewed Hope Initiative Elderly Support Scheme.
The epic programme with the theme: “Better Days Ahead”, has been scheduled to be held tomorrow on Thursday, December 21, at the Cyprian Ekwensi Arts and Culture Centre, Abuja.
During an inspection of facilities put in place by the FCT Administration’s Woman Affairs Secretariat, the minister stated that, while arrangements have advanced, more efforts should be channeled to the health unit given the age bracket of the beneficiaries.
“She will interact with the elderly, senior citizens of our FCT, and she will bring a special package for those special groups.”
“That is why, as you can see here, all of our mandate secretaries, SDS and Women Affairs staff, and others from the FCT are all here to look at the arrangements and make the best of it.”
“We offer a comprehensive package for the elderly.” We’re going to check their vital signs. We are going to perform all of the necessary tests for them to assess their blood sugar, blood pressure, and vision because these are some of the things they require.

“So everything is in order. I’m pleased with what I’ve seen today. I’ll return later in the day, late at night, to ensure that everything is in order.”
Recall that the Renewed Hope Initiative Elderly Support Scheme ,RHIESS, of the First Lady is expected to dole out the sum of one hundred thousand naira each to 250 elderly persons across the six area councils in the territory.
While congratulating the First Lady, Mahmoud called the initiative remarkable, emphasizing that the elderly in the six area councils would experience renewed hope.
Austine Elemue, Special Assistant to the Minister of State for the FCT, said “we are to assess arrangements for the special occasion we will have tomorrow.” Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, paid a special visit as part of the Renewed Hope initiative.
