President Bola Tinubu has confirmed the allocation of N100 billion for school feeding programs in the recently signed N28.7 trillion 2024 budget.
The President made this announcement while signing the 2024 appropriation bill into law at the State House in Abuja on January 1.
Tinubu highlighted that the provision is a significant step to encourage school attendance and address the issue of out-of-school children. He emphasized the importance of the N100 billion allocation, stating that it will serve as a stimulant to boost enrollment and combat malnutrition among school children.

In his address, Tinubu mentioned that one of the key areas of focus in the “Renewed Hope” budget is reducing recurrent expenditure while increasing capital expenditure. The President plans to collaborate with local governments at sub-national levels to ensure the effective implementation of an all-inclusive program.
It’s worth noting that Tinubu had earlier directed the reintroduction of the school feeding program and mandated its transfer from the Humanitarian Ministry to the Education Ministry. This move is expected to enhance the impact and efficiency of the school feeding initiative in addressing educational and nutritional challenges among Nigerian school children.
