President Bola Tinubu has reportedly  suspended Halima Shehu as CEO and national coordinator of the National Social Investment Programme Agency, NSIPA.

Channels TV on its flagship show, The Morning Brief, on Tuesday, said the president immediately approved Shehu’s suspension but gave no further details.

NSIPA, responsible for managing critical programs like N-Power and Conditional Cash Transfer, has been under scrutiny in recent times, with concerns raised about efficiency and effectiveness.

Shehu was appointed by President Tinubu in October 2023, and her appointment was confirmed by the Senate on October 18, 2023.

Halima’s profile Shehu, a skilled professional with a background in financial transactions, has overseen cash management, funds transfer, clearing, reconciliation, operations, and coordination in three different banks.

She entered politics in 2010, and in 2011 she worked as a Senior Special Assistant to former Katsina State Governor Ibrahim Shema. She also contributed her knowledge as a member of the state’s Internal Revenue Board.

Shehu broadened her horizons in 2016 when she accepted a temporary position as a presidential election observer in Cape Verde as part of the Economic Community of West African Countries.

She then brought her wealth of experience to the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development from 2017 to 2022.
