The Director-General, KADCHMA, Malam Abubakar Hassan disclosed this during Free Books Distribution and Medical Outreach for pupils of LEA Kallon Kura, Samaru, Zaria on Thursday

The event was organised by the Office of the Special Adviser to the Deputy Governor on NGO Matters in collaboration with KADCHMA.

The director-general disclosed that the 24,000 beneficiaries of the scheme would be indigent pregnant women and children under five years towards reducing the infant and maternal mortality indices in the State.

He added the collaboration was initially for 20,000 vulnerable populations in the State and it was increased to 24,000 beneficiaries across the State.

Hassan disclosed that Bomo Ward in Sabon Gari LGA would have 300 beneficiaries for the programme.

“The event was to make people understand the benefits of the scheme in helping them to reduce catastrophic out-of-pocket expenses for healthcare services.

“Enrollees of the scheme who were from the informal sector would pay N10, 650 annually to access over 95 different qualitative healthcare services”, Hassan said.

He, therefore, appealed to the residents of the State to leverage on the scheme as a viable option to reduce the burden of out-of-pocket expenses for healthcare services.

Earlier, the Special Adviser to the Deputy Governor of Kaduna State on NGO Matters, Alhaji Muktar Zubairu said the collaboration was to strengthen universal health coverage in Kaduna State.

In the spirit of reducing out-of-pocket expenses on healthcare, the special adviser also supported pupils with exercise books to reduce expenses incurred by parents on education.
