Governor of Kogi State,  Ahmed Usman Ododo says the distribution of the first quarter of food palliatives has commenced in the state.

Governor Ododo spoke while responding to preliminary reports from officials in charge of the distribution of the palliatives.

He said the intervention is one of the many agendas of his administration, adding that some 20 consignments of the grains have been taken to 10 LGAs for distribution.

He said the food is meant for the indigenes of the state, adding that his administration is committed to the wellbeing of the people.

“I am proud of the conduct of the state officials handling the distribution of palliatives as there has been no report of any hitch or disruption as many trucks have been loading the grains to various local government areas in the state,” he said.

“I want to urge the local government caretaker chairmen and their committees to emulate the conduct of the state officials as the materials are being moved to the ward level.

“I want to also commend our people for their patience and orderly conduct so far and I want to encourage them to sustain this attitude throughout the distribution exercise and in subsequent interventions to be made by our government.”

The governor urged the officials to ensure the palliative distribution is done in line with the procedures and shared across the 21 LGAs in the state.

He called on the people of the state to report any violation in the distribution process to the state Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation for immediate action.
