Super Falcons star Ashleigh Plumptre fulfilled the dreams of a fan by gifting him her jersey, a special gesture for his wife.

Ashleigh Megan Plumptre, born 8 May 1998 is a professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Saudi Premier League club Al-Ittihad and the Nigeria women’s national team. Formerly an England youth international, she made her senior Nigeria debut in February 2022.

The star player for the Super Falcons of Nigeria, has become a trending topic on social media.

This happened after her recent outstanding performance for the Nigerian women’s national team. The Super Falcons progressed to the fourth round of the CAF Women’s Olympic qualification for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

They defeated Cameroon 1-0 on aggregate in the second leg at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja. Esther Okonkwo’s excellent goal secured Nigeria’s victory against Cameroon, who played with 10 players. Plumptre’s performance after the game made her a trending topic online.

Plumptre noticed a banner in the stands that read, “Ashleigh please your jersey for my wife.”

She noticed the cardboard and proceeded to give the married man her jersey.

Plumptre will go back to Al Ittihad in Saudi Arabia for the next stage of the Olympic Qualifiers. Nigeria might face the current African champions, the Banyana Banyana of South Africa.

Plumptre has played for England in various age groups, including under-15, under-17, under-19, and under-23 levels. She participated in tournaments like the 2014 and 2015 UEFA Women’s Under-17 Championship. Initially, she mostly played as a forward or attacking midfielder in youth teams. Notably, during the 2015 UEFA Women’s Under-17 Championship qualifying round, she scored twice in a 9–0 victory over Moldova. At 17 years old in 2016, Plumptre was the youngest player selected for the under-23 team for the 2016 La Manga Tournament.

Overall, she made 30 appearances at the youth level, scoring 10 goals.
