Egypt’s dominance in Africa continued on Friday at the 13th African Games in Ghana as the North Africans retained their titles in the men’s and women’s events in table tennis.
El-Beiali also secured a victory over Mati with a score of 3-1, completing the 3-0 win for the Egyptian team.
Furthermore, the Egyptian female team extended their unbeaten streak in the table tennis team event since 2011 by defeating Nigeria 3-0 in the final.
The Egyptian table tennis team, comprising Dina Meshref, Hana Goda, and Mariam Alhodaby, displayed dominance against Nigeria’s Offiong Edem, Hope Udoaka, and Fatimo Bello to retain their title at the games.

Since their victory over Nigeria at Maputo 2011 in Mozambique, the Egyptian women, led by Meshref, have maintained their stronghold in the event, asserting themselves as the continent’s top female team.
Historically, Nigeria has clinched the women’s title seven times from 1978 to 2007. However, Egypt’s ascendancy in the women’s event began in 2011, marking a shift in the dynamics of table tennis dominance on the continent.
