A tragedy unfolded in the Gbagada area of Lagos as an unidentified woman was fatally stabbed by her househelp at her residence on 29 Kiniun-Ifa Street, Sawmill apartment.
The exact timing of the murder by the fleeing househelp, known as Peter, remains unknown.
The lifeless body of the woman was discovered on Saturday, March 9, by her visiting son, as reported by Vanguard.
This incident echoes a similar tragedy that occurred in the Ikeja area of Lagos less than a year ago when a driver colluded with a househelp to murder a couple.
In the Gbagada tragedy, the building was under lock and key.
The deceased was said to be the only occupant in the building. But there were three shops in front of the building.
A resident, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said, “the woman’s son, upon arriving at the compound, went straight to his mother’s apartment, only to find her lifeless body on the staircase, with blood all over.
“A long piece of wood suspected to be the murder weapon was also found. By then, the body had started swelling, suggesting that the woman might have been killed days before.”
The fleeing househelp resumed work a week before the tragedy occurred.
Information had it that a relative of the agent that brought the fleeing househelp had been arrested. But the unidentified agent was nowhere to be found.
