The Kogi State Security Trust has launched the distribution of motorcycles and new tyres to security agencies, to aid their mobility in curbing criminality in the state.

The Chairman of the Trust Fund, Abdulkareem Ozovehe, flagged off the distribution to the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, on Tuesday in Lokoja, saying the initiative was an attempt to assist security agencies to curb criminality in the state.

He noted that Gov. Ahmed Ododo had given approval for procurement of 35 motorcycles to be distributed to security agencies across the 21 local government areas of the state, to rid it of crimes.

“We have started the distribution with the provision of five motorcycles and 10 vehicle tyres to NSCDC and Quick Response Units all from Kogi central,” he said.

He added that the agency had also refurbished operational vehicles for security operatives and Kogi Hunters in the western and eastern parts of the state.

Ozovehe further stated that the governor had also given approval for the procurement of 16 flying boats for the seven riverine local government areas of the state.

the local governments include, Ibaji, Idah, Ofu, Omala, Bassa, Ajaokuta and Kogi local government areas to enable security operatives fight crimes on the waterways.

He said, “the governor is doing everything possible to ensure that perpetrators of crimes, especially robbery and kidnapping in the state are arrested and brought to book.

“The state government is presently working with the National Union of Road Transport Workers and Okada Riders Association to fish out criminals who are pretending to be their members to perpetrate crimes.”

He appealed to residents to assist the security agencies by giving forehand information to them and to report suspicious activities in their communities.

NSCDC’s Superintendent Salihu Mohammed, commended the state government for provision of the motorcycles and tyres to the security agencies in the state.

Mohammed assured that such gesture would reduce crimes and criminalities to the barest minimum across the state.
