After the thrilling conclusion of last month’s TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire, where the hosts clinched their third title, Africa’s premier tournament is now turning its attention to the 35th edition slated to take place in Morocco next year.
A total of 52 nations will vie for spots in the 24-team competition. To kick off the TotalEnergies CAF AFCON Morocco 2025 qualifiers, the Preliminary Qualifiers will begin on Wednesday, 20 March. The eight lowest ranked nations will compete in a two-legged format to determine the four teams that will advance to the group stages.

The action starts with Somalia hosting Eswatini and Djibouti facing Liberia on the first day. Two days later, Chad will play against Mauritius, while Sao Tome and Principe will take on South Sudan.
The return legs will be played on Tuesday, 26 March, with all matches scheduled for the same day to conclude the preliminary phase of the competition.
