Amaechi Muonagor, a veteran Nollywood actor, has died after a long illness at the age of 62.
Morris Monye, a social commentator, disclosed this on Sunday via his X handle. Muonagor was said to have kidney failure and was undergoing dialysis. The unexpected news of his death comes just a few days after he posted a viral video asking for funds to help him get a kidney transplant.

Monye expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Amaechi Muonagor, highlighting his remarkable talent as a Nollywood actor. She mentioned his valiant battle against health challenges, noting efforts to support his medical treatment in India. This tragic loss underscores the urgent need for improved healthcare in Nigeria.

A native of Idemili, Anambra, Muonagor was born on Aug. 20, 1962. He made significant contributions to the Nigerian film industry as an actor and producer. He received a nomination for Best Actor in a comedy at the AMVCA 2017. Muonagor transitioned from a career at the News Agency of Nigeria in 1989 to pursue acting, starring as Akunatakasi in his debut movie, Taboo 1.
