Mrs Margaret Oguntala, President, Nigerian Society of Engineers, NSE, has bagged the prestigious Africa Energy Lifetime Achievement Award of the Women in Energy Africa.

Mrs Felicia Agubata, Vice President, Corporate Services of NSE, said this in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria on Saturday in Lagos.

Oguntala, who is an engineer, was recognised for her exemplary contributions to the energy sector, which further solidifies her status as a trailblazer and role model in the field of engineering.

The award was bestowed on the NSE president at the 2024 WomEnergy Africa Gala and Award held in Houston Texas in the United States of America.

The WomEnergy Africa Gala and Award is a platform to celebrate the remarkable accomplishments of women across the globe and also promote networking.

In another development, Oguntala was also honoured for her outstanding contributions as one of the panel speakers at the just concluded Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria event held during the 2024 Offshore Technology Conference in Houston.

The NSE president’s recognition as a distinguished panel speaker underscores her significant contributions to the engineering profession and her commitment to advancing local content excellence in Africa’s oil and gas sector.

At the panel discussion, the NSE president highlighted the importance of capacity-building initiatives.

Oguntala emphasised NSE’s commitment to addressing the skill gap in the industry through various capacity-building programmes.

These initiatives, she said, aim to ensure a sufficient supply of competent professionals who can contribute to the growth and sustainability of the oil and gas industry.
