Some youths protesting against economic hardship in Kano State have taken to the streets, waving Russian flags and calling on President Vladimir Putin, to intervene over the crisis in Nigeria.

Recall that angry Nigerian youths started protesting on Thursday, demanding better governance and an end to issues such as food inflation and the high cost of living.

The sight of Russian flags highlights the deep frustration with the Nigerian government’s handling of the economic crisis, which has compounded the issues of hunger and hardship across the nation with over-bloated population.

Residents, expressing their frustration, are demanding improved governance and relief from economic pressures like soaring food prices and overall inflation.

Meanwhile, despite president Bola Tinubu’s administration efforts to suppress the protests, including subtle threats against demonstrators, a huge turnout of Nigerians has defied these attempts, showing determination and resolve.

Nigeria is currently dealing with a 40.87% food inflation rate and persistent general inflation, fueling widespread anger against government’s draconian policies.

Despite a 24-hour curfew in place in Kano, some protesters have taken to the streets in the Minjibir Local Government area of the state to protest hardship in the country.

It was gathered that the protesters displayed placards carrying different inscriptions to convey their messages.

A resident of the area, Tasiu Minjibir who spoke to journalists said the protesters conducted themselves peacefully and carried out the protest around the local government headquarters.

He said the protesters were demanding for reversal of fuel subsidy removal among others.

Recall that Governor Abba Yusuf had on Thursday evening declared a 24-hour curfew in the state following hoodlums wielding different weapons hijacked the protest.
