The reinstated Deputy Governor of Edo State Philip Shaibu has officially resumed office duties and has directed his staff to follow suit.
He also warned banks carrying out transactions with the Office of the Deputy Governor of Edo State without his express consent about the illegality of such transactions.
In a video broadcast on Monday, Shaibu mandated those yet to resume work since his reinstatement to do so or face the consequences.
He said the judgement of the Federal High Court which reinstated him indicated that his office has never been vacant.
He also disclosed that he was saddened by the killing of a police officer attached to the Edo APC governorship candidate for the September 21 election.
The incident happened on Shaibu’s return to Edo State following the delivery of the court judgment. The reinstated deputy governor said that he was informed that some suspects have been arrested.

Shaibu said he had upon his return to office requested the state governor’s approval for the reinstatement of his aides but has still not received a response to this formal request.
Recall that Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja in July voided the impeachment of Phillip Shuaibu as the Deputy Governor of Edo State.
Justice Omotosho, while delivering judgment in the suit, ordered that Shaibu be reinstated to office because the Edo State House of Assembly failed to comply with due process in impeaching him.
The Judge also set aside the appointment of the new Deputy Governor who replaced Shaibu.
The court held that the allegation on which the House of Assembly based the impeachment proceedings was untenable in law and did not constitute gross misconduct.
He ordered the Inspector General of Police to provide him with needed security to enable him to resume office and perform the functions of the office until the end of his tenure.
In addition to reinstating Shaibu, the court ruled that he should receive his outstanding salaries and allowances, dating back to April when he was removed from office as the deputy governor of the state.
