In a significant operation against banditry, Nigerian Army troops on patrol in Kaduna State have successfully neutralized eight bandits in the Birnin Gwari Local Government Area.
The operation took place in the Kampanin Doka general area, where the troops encountered and engaged the bandits, leading to their elimination. Samuel Aruwan, the Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, reported that the operation resulted in the recovery of substantial items, including three AK-47 rifles, eight AK-47 magazines—four of which were loaded with a total of 120 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition—one magazine carrier, six motorcycles, three mobile phones, two Baofeng radio sets, and three pairs of civilian clothes.

In another encounter around the Gayam general area, the troops engaged additional bandits, successfully neutralizing one, while others are believed to have fled with gunshot wounds.
Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, praised the troops under the command of Major General MLD Saraso, General Officer Commanding, 1 Division Nigerian Army/Commander of Operation Whirl Punch, for their brave actions and the significant impact of their operations in the ongoing fight against banditry in the region.
