The Nigeria Police Force has declared a Briton, Andrew Wynne and a Nigerian, Lucky Obiyan wanted for allegedly conspiring to overthrow the government of President Bola Tinubu.
At a press briefing in Abuja on Monday, Force spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi disclosed that Wynne, also known by the aliases Andrew Povich or Drew Povey, is accused of orchestrating a network of sleeper cells aimed at causing chaos and destabilizing the government.
“The Nigeria Police Force has initiated a thorough investigation into the activities of foreign nationals and subversive elements attempting to undermine Nigeria’s democratic government through unconstitutional means and the orchestration of violence across the country,” Adejobi stated.

The Police spokesman said nine suspects have already been apprehended, allegedly backed by substantial foreign financial support to carry out their destabilizing activities. The suspects are accused of funding violent protests, spreading misinformation, and engaging in other unlawful actions to create an atmosphere of anarchy, thereby justifying their plot to overthrow the government.
The investigation identified Wynne as a key figure in the conspiracy, using a rented space at Labour House in Abuja for a so-called “Iva Valley Bookshop” and establishing “STARS of Nations Schools” as fronts for his subversive activities. Wynne, along with his local coordinator, Obiyan, has since fled the country.
“Andrew Wynne has fled the country since the commencement of investigations. Both he and his local coordinator, Lucky Ehis Obiyan, have been declared wanted, and a global manhunt is now underway in connection with this investigation,” Adejobi announced.
The police spokesperson further disclosed that Wynne provided financial and operational support to his Nigerian collaborators, allegedly directing them to mobilize the public to violently attack police and military facilities. This, according to the police, was intended to provoke international condemnation of the Nigerian government. These actions are said to violate the Terrorism (Prevention) Act 2011 and other relevant laws.
The Nigeria Police Force has vowed to continue its efforts to apprehend Wynne and Obiyan, and to ensure that justice is served.
