Prof. Joseph Alakali has resigned from his role as Secretary to the Benue State Government. The announcement was made by Sir Tersoo Kula, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Hyacinth Alia, in a statement released on Tuesday.

Prof. Alakali tendered his resignation letter on Monday, citing the need to focus on personal matters.

Governor Alia, in accepting the resignation, expressed his appreciation for Alakali’s service, noting that he had served the state diligently for a year and three months. The governor wished him well and prayed that he finds the strength to overcome the personal challenges he intends to address.

The resignation marks a significant shift within the administration, as Governor Alia has approved the appointment of Barr. Aber Serumun Deborah as Secretary to the State Government.

Kula explained that the new SSG is a seasoned solicitor and arbitrator with a strong sense of initiative and excellent analytical skills.
