Abba Bichi, the son of former Department of State Services, DSS, Director General Yusuf Bichi, has refuted rumors that he fled the country after allegedly stealing $2 million from his father.

Social media and gossip reports had claimed that Abba absconded with the stolen money, but he has since addressed the issue publicly.

Abba, a professional footballer currently without a club, is exploring opportunities in Germany, where he remains eligible to sign with a team as a free agent. In a podcast recorded at a stadium in Germany, he responded to the rumors, showcasing a conversation with his father after a recent match, where his team suffered a defeat. During the exchange, his father encouraged him to remain focused and not let the loss hinder his determination. The coach, Thomas, also participated in the conversation, mentioning an upcoming game against Bayer Leverkusen.

Despite the controversy surrounding Abba after his father’s tenure as DSS chief, including allegations of bullying, theft, and harassment, his father continues to express support for his football career.

Credible News recalls that the rumors surrounding Abba Bichi, intensified following claims by veteran journalist Jackson Ude. In a series of tweets on his verified X (formerly Twitter) account, Ude alleged that Abba stole $2 million (N3 billion) from his father, citing sources within the DSS. These sources claimed that Abba knew where his father stored money reportedly collected from politicians, and allegedly took the money shortly after his father was dismissed from his position by President Bola Tinubu.

Ude’s tweets also mentioned that the Chief Security Officer to the former DSS DG, identified as Mr. Adamu, was detained for allegedly stealing thousands of dollars from Bichi’s office. The reports, disclosed that Adamu was caught ransacking the office and apprehended as he exited with a bag of cash.

While Ude claimed that the allegations against Abba had been confirmed by multiple DSS sources, the accusations against Adamu were still being investigated. Ude further described Abba as living a flamboyant lifestyle, residing in a Maitama apartment with an annual rent of $80,000, and noted that his soccer career had not been successful.

Despite these allegations, Abba has refuted claims that he fled with the money and has maintained a public presence, including addressing the rumors from Germany, where he is pursuing football opportunities.
