The Nigerian Army’s ongoing commitment to combating terrorism yields significant results as troops successfully eliminate eight terrorists and rescue 40 hostages across multiple states.
The coordinated missions, executed on September 28 and 29, in Nasarawa, Kaduna, Borno, and Yobe States, mark a notable achievement in the fight against armed insurgents threatening civilian safety.
These operations are part of the military’s broader strategy to dismantle terrorist networks within the country. An official statement from the Nigerian Army disclosed that troops acted on credible intelligence that led them to various locations where terrorists were active.
In Nasarawa State, troops conducted a strategic stop-and-search operation along the Lafia-Keffi Road, resulting in the arrest of a notorious arms courier who was found in possession of 303 live rounds of ammunition. This successful apprehension highlights the army’s proactive measures and its commitment to disrupting the supply chains of terrorist groups.
In Kaduna State, precision strikes were executed in forests near Danmari and Saulawa villages, leading to the elimination of one terrorist. Additional engagements in Ankwa village resulted in two more terrorists being killed, along with the recovery of a locally made firearm and ammunition.
In Borno State, troops engaged fleeing terrorists at Faayijiwa Fandanari village, recovering two AK-47 rifles and various ammunition. The army reported that these terrorists abandoned their weapons while fleeing from superior military firepower. Further operations in Gwoza Local Government Area led to the neutralization of three more terrorists and the interception of a convoy believed to be transporting supplies to terrorist camps.
