Former Arsenal forward, Brooke Nunn has expressed her enthusiasm about the possibility of representing Nigeria’s Super Falcons at the international level.
The 31-year-old striker, who recently joined Central Coast Mariners from Hibernian FC, shared her excitement about the opportunity to wear Nigeria’s iconic green and white jersey, describing it as a dream come true.
Although born in England and having represented the country at youth levels, Nunn is now eager to make the switch to Nigeria’s national team.
“I get my Nigerian heritage from my mother, who is half Nigerian and half German,” Nunn shared, with Brila FM.
“She was born in England, as I was, but I lived in a foster home from an early age. I see a reflection of this potential [Nigerian spirit] in me, and I think being part of the team [The Super Falcons] would be an honor and achievement for me as a footballer. It’s something that fulfills you.”
She cites players like Ashleigh Plumptre, who made similar decisions, as her inspiration. Initially, Nunn didn’t think playing for Nigeria was a realistic option, but the recent inclusion of players born overseas into the Super Falcons has given her new hope.

“Initially, I didn’t think the possibility of playing for the Super Falcons was there a few years back because you don’t often see or hear of players that didn’t grow up in Nigeria within the squad,” Nunn said.
“But owing to the paradigm shift in recent years, which handed players outside the country who are of Nigerian descent the possibility to represent the country, has given me hope and faith that I can also have an opportunity to play for Nigeria. I find it very motivating, and I want to be a symbol of this possibility,” she added.
Nunn boasts an impressive career, having come through Arsenal’s academy and winning Women’s Super League titles in 2011 and 2012. She was also the youngest member of Arsenal’s Champions League squad in 2011 and earned multiple domestic trophies during her time at the club.
Since then, Nunn has played for various teams across Europe, including London Bees, Altay S.K Women, and Hibernian, continuing to build a successful career on the international stage. Now, she hopes to bring her experience and talent to Nigeria’s national team, aiming to contribute to the success of the Super Falcons.
