The Nigerian Army has initiated an investigation into the allegations against Brigadier General M.A. Sadiq, the former Commander of the 3 Brigade in Kano.
Sources indicate that he was relieved of his duties following accusations of withholding benefits intended for his subordinates and other financial misappropriations during his time in command.
Military insiders disclosed that Brigadier General Sadiq is currently in custody as inquiries continue regarding the serious allegations against him. “Brigade matters are strictly managed by the Army Headquarters, not the Defence Headquarters, as some have speculated. The general was removed following complaints from soldiers about his failure to disburse their entitlements, among other issues. He has been summoned for questioning and remains in custody,” the source stated.
In response to inquiries, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, the Director of Defence Information, directed questions to the Director of Army Public Relations. Major General Onyema Nwachukwu confirmed that Brigadier General Sadiq is undergoing a military investigation related to “administrative discrepancies” during his command.

Nwachukwu stated, “The immediate past Commander of 3 Brigade, Kano, Brigadier General M.A. Sadiq, is currently under investigation for administrative discrepancies. Consequently, he has been relieved of his command to facilitate a thorough examination of the allegations.”
He emphasized that the Nigerian Army upholds a zero-tolerance policy towards indiscipline, stating that any actions undermining the integrity of the Army would not be tolerated.
“The Nigerian Army, as a self-regulatory institution founded on principles of discipline, justice, and accountability, assures both our internal and external stakeholders that these allegations will be rigorously investigated. Appropriate administrative actions will be taken if any wrongdoing is established. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity and transparency throughout this process, which will be fair, impartial, and conducted in accordance with established procedures,” he added.
