A fire incident occurred at the Federal Ministry of Works headquarters in Mabushi, Abuja, shortly after workers resumed on Friday.

The blaze, caused by a spark from a faulty circuit breaker on the ground floor, was quickly contained before significant damage was done.

Mohammed A. Ahmed, Director of Press and Public Relations, stated that the fire broke out around 11:30 a.m. but was swiftly controlled by the Federal Fire Service. The Station Commander, Mr. Kekai Bekebi, his team responded immediately, using fire extinguishers to put out the flames and successfully evacuating staff without any injuries or casualties.

The Director of Human Resource Management, Mr. Aliyu Abdullahi, reassured that no documents were lost during the incident and praised the staff for their calm and orderly behavior throughout the evacuation. Maintenance personnel were seen cleaning debris as normal operations resumed soon after.

The swift response averted a major disaster, ensuring minimal disruption at the ministry.
