President Bola Tinubu  has scrapped the Niger Delta Ministry and the Ministry of Sports Development.

In a major restructuring announced at the Federal Executive Council meeting in Abuja, the Ministry of Regional Development will replace the Niger Delta Ministry, overseeing regional commissions like the Niger Delta Development Commission and others. The National Sports Commission will take over sports management, while the Ministry of Tourism will be merged with the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy. The changes aim to streamline government operations and improve efficiency.

Credible News recalls that the Presidency had two weeks ago confirmed speculations on an imminent cabinet reshuffle by President Tinubu.

This announcement had sparked widespread speculation and anticipation among political analysts and citizens alike, as it signals potential changes in leadership that could reshape the government’s direction.

The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga said the reshuffle will not just be a routine adjustment but a strategic move aimed at enhancing governmental performance.

Mr Onanuga added that: “The President has given an order to all his ministers at the last Federal Executive Council meeting to go out there and speak about the activities of his administration.

“Some of them have been media shy, television shy, radio shy, and he wants them to overcome all that and go out there and speak about what they have been doing.”

Sources within the presidency indicate that this reshuffle is intended to address concerns regarding ministerial effectiveness and accountability, reflecting an ongoing commitment to governance that meets the expectations of the Nigerian people.
