Mrs. Susan Gbemisola Alabi, the former deputy governorship candidate for the Social Democratic Party, SDP, in Ondo State, has officially joined the All Progressives Congress, APC, citing “irreconcilable differences” with her former party’s candidate, Otunba Bamidele Akingboye.
She was welcomed by APC’s gubernatorial candidate, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, during his campaign tour in Akoko North West.
Governor Aiyedatiwa used the event to reaffirm his commitment to statewide development, emphasizing that the 2025 budget will prioritize growth across all regions of Ondo State. He assured Akoko North West residents that improvements in infrastructure and services are imminent, pledging that no area would be overlooked.
Local traditional rulers also showed strong support, with the Owa of Ogbagi, Oba Olasehinde Ojo Adetona, speaking on behalf of 27 monarchs to endorse Aiyedatiwa, emphasizing trust in his leadership. Aiyedatiwa encouraged party supporters to stay united, stressing that his direct interactions with community members would inform responsive and inclusive planning.
In Oke Agbe, the campaign atmosphere was festive as Aiyedatiwa reiterated his administration’s focus on security, infrastructure, and agriculture, promising a future that meets residents’ needs statewide.

Credible News recalls that several groups within the APC, have declared their support for the candidate of SDP, Benson Akingboye.
The groups, comprising Ondo Patriots, Ondo APC Solidarity Group, Jagaban Coalition, and APC Youth League, stated they are backing Akingboye as they consider him the better candidate.
In a statement on Sunday, the groups, led by Comrade Dele Oyewo of Ondo Patriots, claimed that the process leading to the emergence of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa as APC’s governorship candidate was flawed.
The statement noted that: “Benson Akingboye, having reviewed his life achievements, especially in the business sector and through some spiritual insights, is believed to represent a beacon of light for Ondo State, set to shine over darkness from February 2025.”
