The United Nations Children Population Fund, UNICEF, in collaboration with key partners, has rolled out a 2025-2027 work plan to bolster child-responsive sectors in Adamawa and Taraba states.

During the 2024 programme review and work plan consultation in Yola, Dr. Nuzhat Rafique, Chief of Field Office, UNICEF Bauchi, reaffirmed UNICEF’s commitment to supporting vulnerable children. She called on implementation partners to intensify efforts to ensure access to quality education, healthcare, and welfare services.

Dr. Stanley Garuba, Planning and Monitoring Specialist, emphasized the importance of endorsing the work plan and fostering accountability for sustainable development.

Dr. Mary Paninga, represented by Hassan Modibbo, highlighted UNICEF’s alignment with Adamawa’s development agenda, emphasizing progress in health, education, and social protection. “As we move forward into 2025, our work plan is focused on building on these gains, continuing to champion Children’s Rights by ensuring that every child has access to quality education, healthcare and protection from harm, particularly vulnerable populations,” he said.

Similarly, Dr. Tukura Nyigwa from Taraba State praised UNICEF’s impact, reiterating the government’s pledge to combat child malnutrition.

This initiative aims to reinforce children’s rights and ensure inclusive access to essential services.

UNICEF is the driving force that helps build a world where the rights of every child are realized. The Agency has the global authority to influence decision-makers, and the variety of partners at grassroots level to turn the most innovative ideas into reality. That makes UNICEF unique among world organizations, and unique among those working with the young.

UNICEF believes that nurturing and caring for children are the cornerstones of human progress.  UNICEF was created with this purpose in mind – to work with others to overcome the obstacles that poverty, violence, disease and discrimination place in a child’s path.  The agency believes that together, we can advance the cause of humanity.
