The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike is set to launch the construction of four new roads and several other significant projects this week.

This was announced by the Minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and New Media, Lere Olayinka in a statement issued on Monday, who notes that in addition to the road projects, six new initiatives will be flagged off between this week and next, including the construction of staff quarters for the Nigerian Law School and various other infrastructure developments.

Additionally, brand new vehicles will be distributed to security agencies to enhance their operational capacity.

The key projects to be inaugurated include:

  • Construction of Kabulsa-Takushara Access Road
  • Construction of Kabusa-Ketti Access Road
  • Provision of an access road to the new EFCC Academy site in Giri District
  • Design, construction, and furnishing of the Body of Benchers’ office complex
  • Design and construction of 10 staff quarters for the Nigerian Law School in Bwari Area Council
  • Construction of a 15km road from A2 Junction on the Abuja-Lokoja Road to Pia in Kwali Area Council.

Over the past two weeks, Minister Wike visited more than 10 project sites across the FCT, assessing the ongoing development efforts in Abuja and its satellite towns. Some of the projects he inspected include:

  • The construction of the Saburi-Dei Dei Road
  • Rehabilitation of the 5km Dutse-Usuma Dam Road
  • Upgrading of roads around the War College/Army Checkpoint in Bwari Area Council
  • Reconstruction of the 25km Kwaita/Yebu Road in Kwali Area Council
  • Construction of the 11km Yangoji-Sukuku-Ebo Road in Kwali
  • Rehabilitation of various roads, including the Old Ushafa-LUD Road and the Dutse-Lower Usuma Dam Dual Carriageway
  • Development of roads in Dakibiyu District and access roads to the Abuja Court of Appeal Complex.

Minister Wike’s inspection also covered the ongoing construction of key roads like the 11km Kuje Road, the full development of the 4km Arterial Road N5, and the Arterial Road N16 from Ring Road II to III, as well as infrastructure projects related to the Judges Quarters in Katampe, which include new roads and 40 housing units.
