Addressing challenges in Nigeria’s public university system, such as inadequate funding and strike disruptions, Omoregie proposed innovative funding strategies, improved infrastructure, and staff welfare. He praised the Federal Government’s initiatives like the Nigeria Education Loan Fund and Tetfund for advancing higher education but called for sustained support to UNIBEN from Tetfund.
As an alumnus, Omoregie committed to mobilizing the alumni network to contribute significantly to the institution’s growth. He also commended his predecessor, Prof. Lilian Salami, for her remarkable achievements, including boosting the university’s rankings and infrastructure despite limited resources.
Salami, UNIBEN’s second female vice-chancellor, reflected on her tenure, highlighting milestones achieved amidst challenges like COVID-19 and funding constraints.
She emphasized efforts to address staff gaps and enhance infrastructure, urging the university community to support Omoregie’s administration for continued progress.
