The 2024/25 Premier League season has seen a shocking managerial shake-up, with four managers losing their jobs in just seven weeks.
The pressure to secure results has never been more intense, as club owners demand swift changes. The latest round of sackings came between October 28 and December 15, 2024, with some clubs making decisions amid mounting frustrations.
Erik ten Hag was the first high-profile casualty, dismissed from Manchester United after a poor start to the season left the club languishing in 14th place. Despite guiding United to two domestic trophies, including the FA Cup, his tenure ended in late October. Interim manager Ruud van Nistelrooy has since steadied the ship, earning three wins and a draw. Under Ruben Amorim, United now sits in 13th.

Meanwhile, Leicester City parted ways with Steve Cooper in November after a series of disappointing results. Despite taking the club on a three-year contract in June 2024, Cooper couldn’t lift Leicester from their poor form, leaving them just two points clear of the relegation zone.
Similarly, Wolves sacked Gary O’Neil on December 15, following a disastrous run of four consecutive defeats. Wolves are now second from bottom, with just two wins from 16 matches, while Southampton also axed Russell Martin after a humiliating 5-0 loss to Tottenham, leaving them bottom of the table, nine points from safety.
As the managerial merry-go-round continues, the pressure is on the remaining coaches, with even the likes of Pep Guardiola under scrutiny despite his past successes. While his position at Manchester City seems secure for now, the relentless nature of the Premier League means no manager is safe from the chopping block. Who will be next to face the axe? Only time will tell.
