The Omupo community in Kwara State has announced the passage of Asiwaju of Omupoland and Baba Adini Musulumi of Omupoland, Alhaji Abubakar Alabi, Abu Ologun, at 108.

Omupo Descendants’ Union, Tajudeen Adigun issued the following statement Sunday:
“On behalf of Kabiyesi Oba Muhammed-Yakubu Adebayo Buari, Ilufemiloye II, the Olomu of Omupo, the Omupo Descendants’ Union,ODU, is sad to announce the transition of Asiwaju of Omupoland and Baba Adini Musulumi of Omupoland, Alhaji (Chief) Abubakar Alabi (Abu Ologun) early this morning.
“He died at a ripe age of 108 years.
“Alhaji Alabi throughout his lifetime was the best example of an exemplary life of hard work untireless commitment, service, dedication and unmatched philanthropy and immense contributions to commercial, educational, social, economic and religious development of the people of Omupoland.
“He was conferred with the highly coveted title of Asiwaju of Omupoland by His Royal Highness Oba Adebayo Buari, a forthnight ago, in worthy recognition of the invaluable and sterling leadership support he has provided for decades to throne in the management of the good people of Omupo and Omupo land in general.
“ODU commiserate with Kabiyesi, the families of Alhaji Alabi, the Omupo Muslim Committee and all sons and daughters of Omupo on this great loss.
“We beseech Almighty God to grant us all the fortitude to bear the loss. Amen.
“May Allah also repose his gentle soul, overlook his shortcomings and grant Alhaji Alabi the highest rank in Aljana. Amin.
“He will be buried in Omupo today according to Muslim rites.”
