Victor Osimhen has reportedly thrown a wrench into Napoli’s January transfer plans after informing the club of a key decision.
The 26-year-old forward, currently on loan at Galatasaray, remains officially a Napoli player.
While a return to the Italian club seems unlikely due to deteriorating relations, Napoli had hoped to capitalize on his departure.
When Osimhen renewed his contract with the Serie A side, a €75 million release clause was included.
Napoli had structured their winter transfer strategy with the expectation of triggering this clause, but now must reassess their plans.

Osimhen, one of the most sought-after talents in the market, was expected to attract significant interest in January.
Napoli had earmarked three players they hoped to sign with the funds from his sale: Lecce’s left-back Patrick Dorgu, Arsenal’s Jakub Kiwior, and Empoli’s Jacopo Fazzini.
However, reports indicate that Osimhen personally contacted the Napoli hierarchy to announce that he would not be leaving Galatasaray this January.
This matches his earlier statement in Turkey, where he said he would see out his season-long loan and would not cut it short, despite having a clause that would allow him to do so.
