Qassim Abdulsallam, a Nigerian referee, will feature as centre referee at the 2025 African Nations Championship.
Confederation of African Football ,CAF, announced the 65-man roster of officials on its website, and Abdulsallam is the only Nigerian among the referees chosen for the tournament.
CHAN, a biennial competition exclusively for African players from their respective countries’ local leagues, will be held from February 1 to February 28, 2025, in three co-hosting nations: Tanzania, Uganda, and Kenya.
This edition marks the first time the tournament will be co-hosted by three countries.
Abdulsallam is one of 26 centre referees selected for the event, along with 25 assistant referees and 14 Video Assistant Referees,VAR, officials.

The Nigerian official earned his place following strong performances, including his role in the second-leg CHAN qualifier between Niger and Cote d’Ivoire at Bamako Stade, 26 Mars, in late 2025.
A member of the Zamfara State Referees’ Council, Abdulsallam also participated in CHAN course preparations in Cairo in 2025 and was among the officials for the WAFU U-20 qualifiers in Togo.
In related news, Nigeria’s Super Eagles B team has qualified for the 2025 CHAN, marking their return to the tournament after a six-year absence.
They secured their spot with a 3-1 victory over Ghana in the second leg of the final qualifying match at Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, following a goalless draw in the first leg in Ghana.
