The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has confirmed that registration for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination and Direct Entry has not yet started.
The board reassured candidates that details about the registration process will be shared in due course.
In a statement posted on its official X account on Wednesday, JAMB encouraged prospective candidates to begin early preparations.
Specifically, the board advised securing a National Identification Number, NIN, and a unique phone number that has not been previously used to register on its platform. These are required for generating the profile code needed for registration.
The statement read, “You can get your NIN ahead and a phone number that has not been previously used to register on our platform to generate your profile code prior to the time.”
In another important update, JAMB announced that The Lekki Headmaster by Kabir Alabi Garba has been chosen as the recommended reading text for the 2025 UTME Use of English paper.

Prospective candidates are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the text as part of their exam preparation.
The announcement also stated, “Attention prospective 2025 UTME candidates! This is to inform you that The Lekki Headmaster by Kabir Alabi Garba has been approved as the reading text for the Use of English. Details on the UTME/DE registration shall be released shortly. Kindly be on the lookout for updates.”
Additionally, JAMB has instructed its staff to update their profiles or re-register in anticipation of the upcoming examination.
A bulletin released on January 13 and made public on Tuesday emphasized the importance of compliance with the registration process to avoid any breaches of protocol during the exam.
