The Actors Guild of Nigeria, AGN, has announced the upcoming South Africa-Nigeria Film Week, set to take place in Johannesburg from March 15 to March 19, 2025.

This event will be held in partnership with the Pan-African Film Development Foundation, and aims to foster collaboration between filmmakers from both countries.

It will provide an opportunity for participants to share ideas and learn from one another in order to advance the film industry in both nations.

Emeka Rollas, the National President of the AGN, shared the news in a statement on Thursday from Lagos.

He also reflected on his tenure, as 2025 marks the conclusion of his final term as the 8th National President of the guild.

Rollas expressed pride in the guild’s achievements during his time in office, highlighting a series of upcoming national initiatives for 2025.

Key events include the South Africa-Nigeria Film Week, which Rollas described as a major international endeavor to enhance the relationship between Nigerian and South African filmmakers.

In addition, the AGN will launch its ‘Super App’ on March 13, alongside the opening of a fully furnished complex that will serve as the AGN’s National Headquarters in Abuja, marking a significant milestone in the guild’s growth.

On March 29, members will also participate in the ‘AGN Walk for Life’, a nationwide health awareness campaign held across all 34 state chapters.

This initiative offers members a chance to engage with service providers and register for health insurance, pension schemes, and other benefits.

Rollas also emphasized the importance of safety within the film industry, announcing April 10 as Junior Pope Day of Safety and Occupational Hazards.

This will be a designated “no-shoot” day for all actors to reflect on safety measures and the potential hazards of their profession.

Looking ahead, the guild will host the AGN Praise event from May 8 to 11, featuring Pastor Jerry Eze of the Streams of Joy International in Abuja.

Furthermore, the 2nd edition of the Nollywood & African Films Investment Summit & Awards will take place in July 2025, further strengthening Nigeria’s presence on the global film stage.

The AGN International Festival, AGNIF, which has seen two successful editions, will also return for its third edition in November.

Rollas concluded by stressing the AGN’s continued commitment to advancing the interests of Nigerian actors, both locally and internationally.
