The Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, Udu Branch in Delta State has arrested Olubuwe Ossai Silas for impersonating a lawyer.

Report indicates that Silas was arrested on Tuesday while falsely claiming to be Simon Sabuke.

He was caught in the act of attaching a lawyer’s seal to a document and preparing legal papers under false pretenses using lawyers’ names.

Following the arrest, NBA Udu Branch Chairman, Edmund Odohisi, reported the incident to the Ovwian Police Station, where Silas is currently being held.

The Divisional Police Officer has assured Odohisi that the case will be thoroughly investigated and serve as a warning to others engaging in similar fraudulent activities.

Odohisi emphasized that the incident underscores the NBA’s zero-tolerance stance on quackery and impersonation in the legal profession. “The full extent of the law must be applied,” he stated.

He also highlighted the branch’s proactive stance against impersonation, citing prior warnings against the unlawful use of NBA car stickers by non-lawyers.

“This latest development reaffirms our commitment to safeguarding the integrity of the legal profession,” Odohisi added.
