The Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Brigadier General Yushau Ahmed, has announced that corps members will receive a new monthly allowance of N77,000 from February 2025.

This increase is a notable improvement from the previous allowance of N33,000, reflecting the government’s ongoing efforts to enhance the welfare of young Nigerians serving in the national youth service program.

Brigadier General Ahmed made this statement while addressing the 2024 Batch ‘C’ Stream II corps members in Katsina State.

He emphasized that the new allowance had already been accounted for in the 2025 Federal Government budget and would be implemented immediately after the passage of the budget.

“While the month of January has already ended, once the budget is passed, by February, you will begin to receive N77,000 monthly instead of the usual N33,000,” he explained.

This announcement marks a significant step in improving the conditions for corps members, who play a vital role in national development by serving in various parts of the country.

Addressing potential concerns about serving in areas with security risks, he assured the corps members that they would not be deployed to regions with known security challenges.

“We will not send our corps members to any areas with security threats. Wherever we send them, they should be confident that the area is safe and secure for them to serve,” he assured the gathering.
