Basking in the glory of a successful run in Canada, the Ministry of Interior is now ready for contactless passport renewal system for Nigerians living in European countries.

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo stated that the initiative will allow Nigerians in Europe to renew their passports without visiting an embassy or travelling back home.

The goal is to eliminate bureaucratic obstacles and make government services more accessible to citizens abroad.

“With this innovation, eligible Nigerians can complete their passport renewal entirely online from their homes or offices,” he said.

The minister emphasised that the new system will reduce long wait times, streamline the renewal process, and ensure high standards of professionalism.

He also reassured Nigerians that transparency and security remain top priorities in all ministry operations.

Recognising the contributions of Nigerians abroad, the government aims to provide efficient and accessible services that reflect global best practices.

The initiative underscores the commitment to making passport renewal seamless for citizens, no matter where they reside.
