The Police Service Commission has appointed a new Commissioner of Police for Lagos State while removing Lanre Ishola over the tussle at the Lagos State House of Assembly.
A statement issued by the Commission’s Spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, confirmed the appointment of Moshood Jimoh as the new Commissioner of Police for Lagos. Jimoh was until now Commissioner of Police, Ports Authority, Eastern Ports.
Jimoh, an indigene of Kwara State, has held several key positions in the Nigeria Police Force, including Force Public Relations Officer, Deputy Commissioner at the Airport Police, and Deputy Commissioner for Finance and Administration. He also served as Deputy Commissioner of General Investigation.
His professional training includes courses in combat operations, anti-hijacking techniques, maritime rescue, and weapons of mass destruction countermeasures, with training experiences in the United States, China, South Korea, and Sudan.
Jimoh is a recipient of the Presidential Award for Public Relations Personality of the Year, recognized by the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations for his outstanding contributions to the field.
His appointment was approved on Monday, February 17, 2025, during a session attended by the Commission’s Chairman, Hashimu Argungu; retired Supreme Court Justice Adamu Paul Galmuje, and Commissioner representing the Police, DIG Taiwo Lakanu.
