The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, IPMAN, has given a seven-day ultimatum on payment o bridging claims amounting to ₦100 billion.
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Monday, IPMAN Depot Chairmen Forum Chairman, Yahaya Alhasan accused the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, NMDPRA, of failing to honor its promise to clear the debt, despite a commitment made 40 days ago in the presence of National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu.
He noted that several northern depots, including those in Jos, Gusau, Minna, Suleja, Kaduna, Kano, Gombe, Yola, and Maiduguri, have already shut down due to the financial crisis.
“If NMDPRA doesn’t pay our money within seven days, we will withdraw our services across the nation,” Alhasan warned, heightening fears of a nationwide fuel crisis.
IPMAN also condemned the introduction of a 5% levy on petroleum marketers, calling it unconstitutional and damaging to business operations.
The association urged President Bola Tinubu to intervene immediately, warning that failure to meet their demands would disrupt fuel supply nationwide and worsen economic hardship for Nigerians.
