Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Friday expressed willingness to collaborate with the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, to strengthen the digital economy in the state.
Governor Sanwo-Olu explained that his decision to collaborate with the NCC aligns with his administration’s commitment to Education and Technology, which forms the third pillar of the government’s THEMES+ developmental agenda.
During a courtesy visit by a delegation from the NCC, led by its Executive Vice Chairman and CEO, Aminu Maida, at Lagos House in Ikeja, Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed his administration’s readiness to work with the Commission to safeguard critical infrastructure and promote the growth of telecom and the digital economy.
The Governor disclose that his administration has successfully attracted investments totaling approximately $1.2 billion from various organizations into the digital economy.

He stated, “In the past five years, we’ve attracted investments exceeding $1.2 billion into the digital sector, including the establishment of data centres, hyper-scale data centres, landing submarine cables, and the creation of a robust network of users and providers.”
Earlier, Aminu Maida, the Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of NCC, praised Governor Sanwo-Olu for his administration’s significant contributions to telecommunication, technology, and the digital economy.
Maida emphasized that Lagos is a strategic partner of the NCC and highlighted the importance of collaborating to protect digital infrastructure, address Right of Way issues, and ensure proper notifications during road construction and rehabilitation projects.
He also noted that in July 2024, President Tinubu signed an Executive Order to safeguard key infrastructure across Nigeria, urging continued efforts to protect the country’s digital infrastructure.
