Prince Eniola Ojajuni, the National President of the Afenifere Youth Council, AYC, has regained his freedom after spending 12 days in captivity.
The youth leader was abducted on February 17 while traveling from Ondo State to Abuja. During the attack, he sustained a gunshot wound to the buttock before being taken hostage.
His kidnappers demanded ₦100 million for his release.
In a distressing video circulated on social media, Ojajuni, with a gun pointed at his head, pleaded with Nigerians to contribute any amount that could help secure his freedom.

In response to the abduction, the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, ordered the deployment of the Intelligence Response Team to prioritize his rescue.
Ojajuni’s captors freed him Saturday at Ibillo, Edo State. He confirmed his release in a short video but did not disclose whether any ransom was paid.
The National Secretary of the Afenifere Youth Council, Abiodun Aderohunmu, stated that the youth leader is now receiving medical attention.
Ojajuni’s ordeal has reignited debates on Nigeria’s deepening security crisis. Kidnappings for ransom have become a widespread threat, with both prominent figures and ordinary citizens falling victim.
The incident underscores the urgent need for decisive action to combat insecurity and restore public confidence in the country’s safety measures.
