The Bauchi State Police Command has launched an investigation into the death of a 24-year-old woman, allegedly beaten by her 50-year-old husband during a dispute over Ramadan meal preparations.
The police spokesperson CSP Ahmed Wakili stated that the incident occurred on March 1, 2025, around 11:30 p.m. in the Fadamam Mada area, near Government Girls College, Bauchi.
The suspect, Alhaji Nuru Isah, a businessman at Bauchi Central Market, reportedly attacked his second wife, Wasila Abdullahi, following an argument over food ingredients and fruits for breaking their fast.
As the argument escalated, Isah allegedly struck Wasila with a cane, causing her to collapse and lose consciousness in their home. She was rushed to ATBU Teaching Hospital, but doctors later confirmed her death.

The police confirmed that the suspect has been arrested, and the cane used in the assault was recovered as evidence. The victim’s body has been placed in the mortuary pending an autopsy.
Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Musa Muhammad, assured the public that justice would be served.
He also emphasized the dangers of domestic violence, urging the community to prioritize respect, empathy, and understanding in family life.
The police called on residents to report any cases of domestic abuse, stressing that domestic violence is a serious crime with legal consequences.
