Nigeria is deepening its diplomatic and economic relations with the United Kingdom as Foreign Affairs Minister, Amb. Yusuf Tuggar embarks on a strategic visit to London.

During the three-day engagement from March 3 to 5, Tuggar is meeting with key UK stakeholders across various sectors, including trade, investment, technology, media, and academia.

The visit is aimed at driving economic growth, fostering innovation, and reinforcing Nigeria’s global partnerships.

“This visit marks a pivotal moment in Nigeria’s foreign policy under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership,” Tuggar stated, emphasizing the government’s commitment to economic diplomacy, strategic alliances, and regional security cooperation.

Key discussions include a session at Chatham House on Nigeria’s evolving foreign policy, meetings at the House of Commons focusing on economic diversification and digital transformation, and engagements with media executives at BBC House.

Financial and economic cooperation is also on the agenda, with talks involving JP Morgan and British International Investment to attract capital flows and strengthen Nigeria’s financial sector.

Additionally, the minister is holding high-level discussions with UK officials on security collaboration, intelligence-sharing, and counter-extremism efforts in West Africa. Strengthening educational and research partnerships between Nigerian and UK institutions is another priority.

As Nigeria takes a proactive role on the global stage, the visit underscores the country’s determination to translate diplomatic efforts into tangible benefits for national security, economic development, and the well-being of its citizens.
