The Job Creation and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, MSMEs, Secretariat has announced that the top winner of the 2025 National MSMEs Awards will receive a house, shop, car, and a cash prize totalling N220 million.

At a press conference in Abuja on Monday, Tola Adekunle-Johnson, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Job Creation and MSMEs, stated that this year’s edition would be the most rewarding yet, with other winners receiving prizes worth over N50 million.

“This is the first year where the overall winner will go home with a house, shop, car, and cash prize,” Adekunle-Johnson said. “We are also introducing a new category to recognize businesses run by people living with disabilities, ensuring inclusivity in this year’s awards.”

The application portal for the awards will open on Friday, March 7, and remain accessible until April 7, allowing MSMEs to apply by submitting video clips showcasing their businesses.

Dr. Ifeanyi Okeke, Director-General of the Standards Organisation of Nigeria, SON, reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting MSMEs, highlighting their role in job creation and economic growth. Represented by Mrs. Phebean Arumemi, Deputy Director and Head of the SMEs Desk at SON, he noted that the screening process would be thorough and transparent.

Over the years, the awards have featured eight categories, including agriculture, ICT innovation, creative arts, fashion, furniture, beauty and wellness, manufacturing, and services. This year, people with disabilities will have a dedicated category while still competing for all other prizes.

Dr. Tayo Omidiji, General Manager of Strategy and Corporate Communications at NEXIM Bank, emphasized the importance of the awards in promoting entrepreneurship, stating that MSMEs contribute about 50% of Nigeria’s GDP.

With bigger rewards and increased inclusivity, the 2025 National MSMEs Awards aim to recognize and empower small businesses driving economic growth in the country.
