The People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Governors’ Forum has dismissed rumours that five of its members are supporting a presidential ticket of Nasir El-Rufai and Peter Obi come 2027.
In a statement issued by Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed, the governors condemned what they described as “unpleasant and provoking publications” aimed at destabilizing the party and weakening its leadership.
The forum accused unnamed forces of trying to manipulate the political landscape by spreading misinformation. It noted that these elements were uncomfortable with the Forum’s consistent scrutiny of the current administration’s economic policies and were attempting to impose a one-party system to undermine democracy.

Dismissing the claims as baseless, the PDP Governors reaffirmed their commitment to party unity and national progress. They emphasized their focus on addressing economic challenges and improving governance in their states, despite obstacles posed by the ruling APC.
“These mischief makers are intimidated by the outstanding performance of PDP Governors and are resorting to falsehoods to discredit our work. We will not allow enemies of progress to mislead Nigerians,” the statement read.
With the 2027 elections on the horizon, the forum pledged full support for the PDP’s chosen candidate, vowing to rally behind a flag-bearer determined to reclaim power. The statement concluded with a firm commitment to equity, social justice, and accountability, as the Governors expressed confidence in a brighter future for Nigeria.
