Power has been restored to the Logistics Command of the Nigerian Air Force ,NAF, in Ikeja, Lagos.
This follows weeks of disconnection by the Ikeja Electricity Distribution Company due to a contentious bill amounting to N4.3 billion.
The disconnection had prompted a dramatic response from Air Force personnel, who, last week, stormed the corporate headquarters and Oshodi Business Unit offices of Ikeja Electricity, causing significant disruption in protest of the power outage at the base.
While the disputed bill remains unpaid, sources confirm that efforts are underway to resolve the issue and settle the outstanding balance.
Vanguard learned that the Nigerian Air Force has now had a prepaid meter installed at the base, which was completed on Wednesday, ahead of the restoration of power.
As stated by sources at Ikeja DISCO, the installation of the prepaid meter was done in a manner similar to that used at military cantonments.
“Now that the prepaid meter is in place, electricity has been restored. Going forward, the base will only consume electricity they pay for,” a company representative explained.

Efforts to reduce the debt had previously included the suggestion to install a prepaid meter, but these were initially rejected.
“As a customer, we will continue to maintain our relationship with them,” the source added.
On the issue of debt payment and the recent disruption, it was clarified that as a federal government agency, the Nigerian Air Force typically handles such matters in Abuja, not Lagos.
However, the immediate issue of power supply has been resolved.
Officials at the Logistics Command confirmed the power restoration, with one source stating: “The prepaid meter was installed on Wednesday, and it is fully operational. The base now has electricity.”
As for the violent protest, an investigation is ongoing, with the Nigerian Air Force affirming that it will address the incident professionally.
