A first-half header from Mikel Merino, deputizing as a makeshift striker in Kai Havertz’s absence, sealed the win for Arsenal. The Spanish midfielder connected with Martin Odegaard’s corner in the 20th minute, looping a header past Robert Sanchez.

Chelsea struggled to create chances, with David Raya’s fumble from Marc Cucurella’s shot offering their closest opportunity. At the other end, Sanchez denied Merino a second goal with a stunning save. However, the game faded out with little attacking action, adding to the growing discontent among Chelsea fans over Enzo Maresca’s style of play.

Both sides are hopeful of returning stronger after the international break, with Arsenal expecting Bukayo Saka back, while Chelsea anticipate the return of Cole Palmer, Nicolas Jackson, and Noni Madueke for their April 3 clash against Tottenham.

Meanwhile, Tottenham endured yet another post-European slump, falling to Fulham at Craven Cottage just days after securing a Europa League quarter-final spot. The defeat leaves Spurs 13th in the table, 10 points adrift of the top half.

Fulham, on the other hand, climbed to eighth, just three points away from the top five, a position that will likely guarantee Champions League football next season.

Later on Sunday, Manchester United face Leicester as they look to strengthen their position in the race for European spots.
